2019 marked the 10th anniversary of Michael Jordan’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Fearless’ shoe pays homage to Jordan’s legacy and the moving speech he gave that day. This edition is made with a shiny patent leather upper that mixes the Bulls and UNC colors, enhanced with a metallic gold wings logo. The wise words of the legend: “Limits, like fears, are often only an illusion”, are printed on the insole. The shoe is finished with a classic AJ1 outsole and pivot point tread.
Released as part of a larger collection with the esteemed Parisian fashion house, the Dior x Air Jordan 1 Low sports a simple two-tone color scheme across the upper, featuring a white Italian leather base with subtle gray leather overlays. . Branding elements include a woven Dior Air tongue label, a Dior Oblique jacquard Swoosh and a Dior Wings logo on the heel tab. The Italian-made slippers are finished with translucent soles that reveal additional brand hits underneath.
The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG ‘Shattered Backboard 3.0’ reprises a coveted colorway inspired by a Michael Jordan matte that took place during a Nike exhibition game in 1985. The shoe colorway of Black, Pale Vanilla and Starfish matches with the colors of the jersey that MJ wore that day. Released in October 2019, this third edition of the sneaker features a crinkled, shiny patent leather upper that alludes to the shattered glass of the hoop, a fitting tribute to an early iconic moment.
The 2020 edition of the Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Black Cat’ brings back the all-black colourway of the classic silhouette, which takes inspiration from one of Michael Jordan’s various nicknames. Like the original 2006 release, this pair makes use of a monochrome black suede upper with a matching black midsole. Jumpman branding on the woven tongue label is rendered in Light Graphite, which represents the sole contrasting design element of the shoe.
