Virgil Abloh partnered with Nike to release an all-black Air VaporMax in March 2018, a spiritual successor to Abloh’s VaporMax design from ‘The Ten’ collection. The Off-White x Air VaporMax ‘Part 2’ features a Black Flyknit upper with matching laces and a Swoosh logo accented by a Red tie. Abloh’s signature “Off-White™ for NIKE” lettering on the medial side and a translucent VaporMax unit complete the look.
Released in July 2019, the Air Max 97 ‘Reflective Bred’ reimagines Christian Tresser’s famous running shoe with hi-vis details and a well-known hardwood colourway. Inspired by a bullet train, the wavy upper is highlighted with reflective strips and branding on the tongue that stands out in low light, making this a Nike shoe with 24/7 versatility. The two pull loops make it easy to get on and off, while the tumbled leather fender stands up to everyday wear and tear.
The Nike Air Force 1 Low is a modern take on the iconic Air Force 1 low top in white on white. Released in honor of the classic sneaker’s 25th anniversary in 2007, the shoe features a sharper, upgraded 10A grain leather White upper with a White air-cushioned rubber outsole.
The April 2018 version of Virgil Abloh’s all-white Air VaporMax remains largely unchanged from the original pair from ‘The Ten’. Stripped of color, the performance runner brings unique raw materials and details to the forefront, including an exposed foam tongue, translucent Swoosh and Off-White suede eyelet. Printed on the clear VaporMax unit, the printed ‘AIR’ quote on the side takes on an added meta dimension.
